News Break - What do you think?

I was wondering if anyone else thought it was strange of the United States Congress members  to all of a sudden proclaim a genocide and isolate Turkey, our most favorable middle east ally?

The decision to do this reminds me of people who have an advent proclivity to smite themselves for fear of success.  It fathoms me why they would even broach this issue in the midst of a war against the middle east and risk turning an ally into an enemy.  I am not saying that they should not recognize it, and that the genocide didn't in fact take place but why would they speak up now? What about all the other genocides that went unrecognized.  There is a time and a place for everything and I think the United States is being very cavalier with the citizen's lives while risking important foreign relationships.  Any thoughts?

Bridesmaids: How many and what is their purpose?

The original purpose of the bridesmaid's involvement in weddings is indeed colorful.

We all know that traditions exist because someone somewhere thought it would be a good idea to do "whatever", and people started doing these things and the reasoning behind the act became diluted and few people thought to question the reason behind the tradition.... until Nexters (Generation Y) came along with their inquisitive minds and free-thinking attitudes.  So how did the tradition of bridesmaids begin? Under Roman law, there were 10 witnesses needed to make a marriage lawful, hence all the bridesmaids and groomsmen.  Bridesmaids would escort the bride to the groom's village for the ceremony and would dress like the bride in order to confuse rival suitors and robbers they may meet along the journey.  The groomsmen also dressed like the groom to confuse both evil spirits as well as any rejected suitors they may meet en route to the church who might wish the groom harm.

Of course, tradition has been thrown by the way-side as of late, as more and more couples are deciding to do things "their" way.  However, if you are a traditionalist, as I tend to be, the current "traditional" rule of thumb is, there is one bridesmaid for every 50 guests.

Cheaper than Advertising!

As I am certain you are aware, the upcoming Bridal and Fashion Show is fast approaching, yet there are still vendor spots available in all categories. The participation fee, which is cheaper than most forms of advertising, more than pays for itself with just one good client obtained at the event. Your booth will be set up for you by our professional service providers prior to the show and you could set up any props you may desire and offer demonstrations to the brides, grooms and their guests.

Are you prepared to accept payments on the go? Now, you can be! There are credit card merchant applications now available on most (if not all) smart phones, such as the iphone, blackberry, htc, and palm devices. With these apps, a merchant or service provider can accept credit card payments virtually anywhere with the use of mobile phones and if desired, the use of a bluetooth card swiper (card swipers are not available with palm pre or iphone the last time I checked).

There are still vendor spots available as well as sponsorship opportunities. Sponsorship gets your company name mentioned in all major advertising, prime booth placement at the event and a host of other goodies to help propel your business.

If you have any printed literature, I would be pleased to hand it out to my clients and associates. If interested, please print the vendor application located here and return it by Monday, March 1st for consideration.

Planning? For me!

As a wedding planner, I am always planning weddings for others. This event though, is more like my baby. I am formulating it from beginning to end and my vision, not my client's is what will be when all is said and done. I must say, as much as I love planning weddings, I am having an absolute ball planning this Bridal and Fashion Show!

There are going to be quite a lot of elite vendors there to service the brides and grooms who attend and the event is even going to be catered (meals, not just snacks). That in itself should bring in the crowds. : )

I look forward to it, and I hope to see you there!
